(1,363 posts)I was involved in another kinda similar situation...there was a young girl , I'm guessing in her 20's, asking questions, and you could hear her mother in the background yelling..." Remember what happened to your cousin!"...." Your uncle was hit by a bus when he was 24"...etc...etc..Tough to get someone on the right track when you have that in the background. Finally she just took the phone and wanted to ...I'm quoting here..."You need to let me talk to Obama'... Still , if these young invincibles would just realize that anything can happen at anytime....they would sign up in a heartbeat. Enjoyed the video, it should be watched by everyone in their 20's.

(1,254 posts)I had to have kidney surgery for a problem I was born with but did not manifest its self until then. Found out there was no coverage on my parents health insurance because I was not a student. Spent two months in the hospital connected to a tube and plastic bag while my kidney healed. Can you imagine what that would cost today.

(21,168 posts)At 22 just out of college and a couple of months into a new job I was wearing thongs and stepped off a stair the wrong way and broke my foot! Luckily I was had worked at my job long enough to get medical care as a benefit. I fear sorry for people who think they are impervious to getting hurt or sick. My mother's caregiver just got diagnosed with breast cancer. She is in the Army reserve and was diagnosed in Kuwait. She's a pretty young women. And luckily the Army is treating her cancer. No one is immune from sickness or a terrible accident.

(37,451 posts)from the swimming pool to the car pool lanes can cost you a lifetime of 24/7 medical care...someone to feed you, bathe you, and wipe your ass.... Who do they think is going to pay?? Years of legal antics and lawsuits. I know I've seen it happen a few times to friends, when growing up. The money spent now may make the difference.

(10,597 posts)... reality. Parents shield them from it, and they don't teach it in schools. They should give a class on reality to each and every high school senior. As a matter of fact, maybe they should make reality a mandatory class each year of high school.

(1,648 posts)Y'know, the unknowns that we don't know...and the ACA is fine in the short term, but let's get on with a real saver of $$$ and efficiency, a single payer plan.

Then get T-boned by a tanker full of Almond Milk!
