I'm don't see how these commentators are reading into this. They're trying to make an issue out of this.

5. Because it's victim blaming.

No one with any sense would announce that the solution to a massive amount of home invasions or robberies occurring was to learn self defense. More importantly, if someone did announce that, there wouldn't be a bunch of people defending it.

The only group that comes close to the victim blaming women face for rape over other crimes is the NRA, and that really ought to tell you why it's a problem right there.
