One year at Crissy Field there was so much fog, you couldn't see the fireworks. The best ones for me are at AT&T Park!!

along Fisherman's Wharf.

One year, we went down to Pier 39. It was cold, but clear. There were poor souls who'd gone down when it was sunny and warm to claim a nice spot. But by the time the show started, around 9:15, it was cold cold cold. They were in shorts and short sleeves, and they hadn't brought anything extra to put on. They were freezing.

Another year, I was over by 2nd and Mission when the fireworks went off. As the explosions from AT&T Park echoed throughout the tall buildings, it sounded like an artillery barrage.

Not the best outcome, but it was one of those incomparable Perfect Days at the Ballpark.

I'd taken the day off as a vacation day. I got an early-morning call from work, and I thought, "Uh-oh." But it turns out they had a couple of tickets for the ball game. Since I was not at work, would I like to pick up the tickets and attend the game?

So, yuiyoshida, what would you have said? My response was, "Hell, yes!"

They were great seats, too- ground-floor box seats along the third base line, twenty rows back.

After the game, we joined the crowd and walked down the Embarcadero walkway along the waterfront and under the Bay Bridge to the Ferry Building.

I Love This Town!
