A Miami cop pulled someone over last month on a routine traffic stop, but the ensuing mess resulted in an internal investigation because it turns out the man this police officer pulled over was actually a higher-ranking officer in the same police department. Officer Marcel Jackson pulled over Lieutenant David Ramras and things got intense really quickly.

In a video captured on Jackson’s GoPro camera, you can see them fighting and Jackson forcing Ramras to the ground. Other officers nearby run up to break the two of them up. Ramras angrily shouts, “Do you know who the fuck I am?” He then tells Jackson who he is.

Needless to say, things haven’t turned out well for either of them. Jackson was relieved with pay, and Ramras has been reassigned. There is currently an investigation underway into the matter.

1. The proper response should be, 'I don't care who you are'.

You break the law, you get caught, you pay the price. Even if you're a 'higher ranking cop' in the same department.

2. "relieved with pay"? what does that mean, they fired him but are still paying his salary?

4. I think that is the procedure when you are being investigated.

5. it's usually referred to as "suspended" with pay.

"relieved" usually means "fired".

3. I had seen this before on DU

I think most people said, if He had been a non police officer who was Caucasian they would have mistreated him, and had he been non police officer of color, it could have been worse. Cops do protect their own.. and this is proof.

10. When Ramras reached into his car after being on the ground,

had he been a "non police officer of color" he would have prompted drawing of weapons at a minimum. It would not be hard to imagine him being shot because "he could have been reaching for a weapon."

6. Impressive response time.

About as good as the cops in my city. Way too many.

7. Miami had this happen a couple of years ago when a cop pulled over a cop in his cruiser after

having to chase him down when he wouldn't pull over. Seems he was speeding without being on a call. The female officer received the same response, "Do you know who I am?"
