A woman confronts her past, and future, when she is forced to make a trip to her hometown.
Kimberly Reed's story continues in her film Prodigal Sons, which won more than a dozen awards and appeared on many Best Films of The Year lists. Prodigal Sons was called "a whiplash documentary that heralds an exciting talent," making her one of Filmmaker Magazine's "25 New Faces of Independent Film," and OUT Magazine's "Out 100." (6,699 posts)I was really shocked when she let on that she had a sex change in her life. I think she is probably the most feminine of persons I've ever met who have done this. I guess my comment is on just her appearance, to me anyway, being totally feminine in her appearance, voice, manner, etc. Good for her. This is a marvelous story, and I wish her a full and happy life no matter where it takes her. I think she'll find it.
I have a nephew that has also gone through a sex change, so now I have a niece. I have always felt the my friends who are gay are some of the finest people I've known in my life. I honestly can't say I know any one who is a lesbian, but I probably do and just don't worry or pry into it. Everyone deserves their own life to lead. I was so happy to hear this story had a good ending, where her home town, a small rural hometown accepted her life and showed support for her in her time of need.
Stories like this give me hope that the world really isn't as fucked up as I so often feel it is. Good for her. Good for them.
