(57,936 posts)Bernie has a great sense of humor and more than any other candidate a great sense of what matters and what doesn't.
If he runs, I will back him and work to get him elected. I hope he runs. He has great integrity, is bought by no one, has malice toward no one and loves the American people.
You can't ask for more in a president than Bernie Sanders has to offer.
After watching this video, I think he can be elected. His humility and honesty will give him high ratings with voters if he can get coverage by the news media.
The fact that he has described himself as a socialist appears on a superficial level to be a drawback. But after hearing his speech, I'm not so sure it is. He defines the issues in concrete terms that reflect the day-to-day experience of Americans who work and live in ordinary communities large and small. He is not a social theorist. He talks about injustice but in everyday, practical terms, not in theoretical jargon. I think that because of his down-to-earth wisdom and his clear portrayal of the America and the problems of the middle class that most of us know first-hand, Bernie Sanders could win the trust and votes of a majority of Americans.
It's important that we all listen to this speech from beginning to the end, because Bernie Sanders is a potential contender for the presidency, and we need to find the strongest candidate possible.
I'm interested in hearing in detail what other DUers think of this speech. Please comment after you have listened to it.

(10,597 posts)... probably our last best hope, JD. It was a great speech, from start to finish.

(11,094 posts)Bernie Sanders, a man of the people.
I hope he decides to run. Hey, I'd give him $100 and be among those 3 million donors.
