(2,065 posts)And I'm sure that ALL the Democratic candidates would be on board with this - to be against it would be so anti-D/democratic that it would be unthinkable to do otherwise. Congratulations for Hillary in her bold step to strengthen democracy in this country! And incidentally, although it is a very important step to take for strengthening democracy in this country, it is also a measure that is corporate neutral, and will not offend any of Hillary's large corporate donors. Unfortunately, given the current state of the Republican party and its dwindling base of support amongst the electorate, it's NOT very Republican-friendly! And it will make the battle lines between the Democrats and the Republicans very sharply drawn, and leave the Republicans with a lot of explaining to do in the general election. And of course, as a supporter of Bernie Sanders, I wonder how much the looming competition from Bernie inspired Hillary to step up to the plate and take this bold move. Let's face it - competition and a free marketplace of political ideas is GOOD for democracy!

(1,648 posts)Restrictions currently being suffered by many "red" states. This is the first example of Bernie pushing The Hill to the Left...and I am delighted. Question: What method of making these sweeping changes does The Hill have in mind?

Let's get all Democrats to support automatic voter registration and also the automatic choice to vote by mail (I think Oregon has this) would be great too. That would help working people.
This is a major issue for Democrats. Republicans are in the Dark Ages on this issue.
