This is a magnificent affirmation of the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment. It has so many applications to other battles as well. It can be used to push back against everything from humiliating abortion restrictions to states flying the Confederate Battle flag.

He believes in the power of individuals moreso than the power of bureaucratic institutions, and is not someone to be convinced by bad or half-assed arguments. This isn't something that will always work out in our favor, but once he IS convinced, he's a force to be reckoned with. I don't always agree with the man, but I can honestly say that I RESPECT his honesty.
If it's bullshit, he will say so. If not, he will say that too.

I don't agree with Justice Kennedy: the plaintiffs "ask" for nothing, and rights are not something "granted" by the Constitution: they are inherent in being. Right ruling, really bad reasoning, and the rhetoric is insidious.

But on the other hand, none will deny his evolution served as a catalyst. The admin of Obama will be remembered as the time of the ACA and gay marriage.

It now appears that ex-pastor Rick Scarborough will not set himself on fire as promised, now that same-sex marriage is the law of the land.

Still, hold on to the marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers. S'mores taste better when prepared over a campfire, rather than the greasy smoke from self-immolation.

And how does someone become an ex-pastor, anyway? Caught with his hand in the poor box? Getting kinky with a member of the church choir? Or just not practicing what one preaches?
