Anyway, bakc in the 60's when i was working on my eco degree it was well known that pure capitalism didn't work any better than communism did. A mixed economy with the most effective and productive aspects of capitalism, socialism, and any other -isms that pop up is the appropriate way to run an economy.
The problem is when we get ideologues and politicians on all sides to demand their way or the highway.

(43,049 posts)when I could read it, save the copy, or just be better off with something in writing that takes less of my time and gets the message across?
We're overwhelmed with unnecessary video and audio. If I'm sitting in the car or eating dinner and prefer to listen, I'd rather text-to-speech than be forced to listen to begin with.
But, I guess that's just me. Reading seems to be a dying art.

(86,860 posts)I have found his commentary rather informative and insightful, when I have the time to listen... being dyslexic, I'd rather listen than struggle through the text. It's good information, usually, for those who are not truly familiar with the points he is making about our current state of affairs as a nation and economic condition.

Ridiculous? No. It's handy listening to interesting info while cleaning the house, gardening, etc. And even after you get one of these devices, you are still free to read.
Heck. You can even get a multi-functional portable device on which you can to actual "reading." Google "ipod touch," also "smart phone."

(9,771 posts)On the other hand, I think I can relate to your complaint. I'm often annoyed when I click on a link that I think will be text and it's video. Especially if that video starts playing immediately when the page opens. Aaaargh! Often there's extraneous stuff in the video, or it's one of those creepy infotainment shows, or I'm already listening to music, so I don't want more audio.
Gotta get back outside to my gardening and a great audiobook. Later.

(9,771 posts)For those of us who like to learn while doing other tasks, say cleaning the house, or gardening, it's not ridiculous to download and listen to audio. So, thanks to you for the post. I'll be listening to it a little later today.
