in every single western on TV, a lot of them back in the 50s and 60s. Now they at least have brown contacts but the skin and hair are both faked.

Most whitewashing makes me sick. The one glaring exception was Linda Hunt as Billy Kwan in "The Year of Living Dangerously." I imagine it was pretty difficult to cast a Chinese dwarf and she did do a remarkably good job. The rest of them not so much.

Hollywood needs to make more movies that look like us instead of some 50s suburban neverneverland.

... the Tom Cruise role in "The Last Samurai" wasn't an Asian character; it really was a white American in Japan.

But John Wayne as Genghis Khan? No such luck!

A funny and scathing history of Hollywood "color" pictures (Did you see what I did there?) by John Oliver. Well done!
