We live in the USA EMPIRE, based on a constant war economy favoring many military-industrial corporations galvanized by 35,000 "salespeople" that are often part of the "revolving door" of industry-government-industry cycle resulting in very large paychecks but costing us our personal liberty and endangering our very economy. We are stuck in this one way passage of that experienced by so many empires before us...It will take a true Revolution to prevent this (near) future collapse from happening. Just writing letters to the editor and congresspersons and corporation CEOs is not enoughwe need to follow our brothers and sisters as in the Occupations and take it to the streets, but not thousands, but millions. We have to get "their" attention first. Then present some clear steps to bring back our Nation and give democracy a chance, just a chance...Thank you Chris Hedges.

Amazing to me that folks can hear his message, then back anyone but progressive hopefuls. As he says: Obama is simply "branding" by another corporate tentacle. Among the MANY examples I could bring up as proof - why did we end up with health insurance subsidization instead of public health care????

in this short interview.

The "inverted totalitarianism" Hedges speaks of is from Sheldon Wolin's book, 'Democracy, Inc.'. I highly recommend it.

Hedges speaks from his heart, peacefully and calmly about the most deadly of things.
He always reminds me of the guy in the opening of the original Dawn of the Dead who is calmly explaining why everyone is being eaten and what steps could be taken while everyone else around him is freaking the hell out.
