(7,923 posts)This is what happens when both sides of the equation are run by Big Money. Money buys the Campaign and Candidate they want and rigs the rest to fail. Hence Trump and other Repubs not worth the vote who are now at the top of their party. It worked before, just ask Deep Throat: "Look at who they're running against!"
Big Money now owns so much of Congress it doesn't matter who is in or out party-wise. They get what they want to regardless, hobble the regulators, privatize the services for the tax flow and continue the money laundering through the Arms deals for MIC contracts.

You (the BernieBros, the Bernie or Busters, etc.) are a very tiny minority. You really ought to get out more to see the big, wide world out there. The world where people can actually see that real change doesn't come overnight, or that a president isn't a dictator who can pass whatever laws he or she wants (remember Congress? Ask Obama about that). Or, in fact, just because you want something and kick and scream and pound a high chair tray with a spoon that means you will get it.
In short, grow up. When you hit the mental age of, oh, about 14, you may be able to understand how things work. And that's not necessarily the way you want.

If I were though, calling out logical fallacies in a debate is not an attack on the person, it is a statement of fact(or not) that can end erroneous thinking. You may contend that I am wrong with the Ad Hominem charge but need to provide arguments that back that claim.
Presumably, Pwnmom charges that because Jimmy Dore is a comedian/host that on occasion calls people names that his premise is incorrect. But of course someone can be a name-caller or comedian and still have a valid argument.

(3,709 posts)denial is strong in these people. I love how they accuse Clinton supporters... Democrats... of slurs and lies while doing the exact same thing. Perhaps, they are simply looking at reflections of themselves.
There have been negative things uttered on both sides, and those involved should be ashamed. However, I am damn tired of being told I am not a Democrat by people supporting someone who isn't one at all.
Silly....

(187 posts)You were probably told that you weren't a progressive because you support a candidate who is not a progressive. Most people don't care about stupid party labels; they care about a politician's ideology. Just because someone is a democrat doesn't make them a progressive. I could care less that Bernie was previously an independent and is now a democrat. He has always been a true progressive. $Hillary, on the other hand, is a center right corporatist "third way" democrat. As a progressive, voting for her is about as appealing as drinking a garlic & onion milk shake.
CherokeeDem
(3,709 posts)I've been told I'm not a Democrat because I'm not a progressive and not being progressive makes me a Repub. Wrong on both counts, I have been a Democrat and a liberal/progressive all my life. I also care about a politician's ideology but those who support Bernie only see their way. Blinders are never attractive.
Bernie is not a Democrat. He took advantage of the Party and was allowed to run as a Democrat, a mistake in my book. His whining about the rules when he didn't win, then admitting later they were well aware of them is appalling. He's a superficial candidate who talks a big game but never won the big one.
Bernie's fans love to throw labels about, so I have one for him... loser.

that has been obvious from the start. Winning at all costs=democracy.
The lack of attention on election fraud being used against HRC by the Republicans is a red flag as well.
Amazing to see someone claiming to be a feminist FORCING her way into office, and using verbal abuse as a policy for suppression. Ruthless cruelty is not evidence of power, it is evidence of being fear driven.

(816 posts)supporters have said about her, that would NOT be from the Bernie camp. It would be a handful of his ardent supporters, right? Stop the smearing with that broad brush. Anyone can compile a list of insults from both sides. As far as wooing Bernie supporters goes, it's difficult to reach out when there is no acknowledgment that she won. None. Bupkis. By the way, I have heard Hillary congratulate Bernie on his campaign and bringing new voters into the fold. See, something like that.

(2,897 posts)I'm sure that after the 100s of times that they said they were going to vote for Jill Stein or write in Bernie that one compliment or concession will bring them over to our side. Honestly, I don't see how all this "Bernie or bust" nonsense doesn't hurt Bernie's bargaining hand. If he has nothing to offer in terms of votes, why on earth would anyone give him meaningful things that may alienate centrist voters?

(8,013 posts)President Obama did not promise her anything to bring her voters on board. If he had, it would have been illegal. I didn't bother to listen to the rest. If he's willing to lie to start with, he's willing to lie about all of it.

(745 posts)The rest of the video doesn't hinge on that that statement, so your reply is quite perplexing - or shall I say, almost makes Jimmy Dore's point.. but you wouldn't know that since you didn't bother to watch it. But OK! Have at it Haas.

(8,013 posts)I decided to accept your belief in the so-called truth in this video and watched it all the way through. After starting out with a lie, and a headline that's misleading (because it sounds like her campaign rather than simply random supporters) we find that Mr. Dore himself tweeted
VOTE FOR US YOU FUCKING SELFISH SEXIST ASSHOLESfollowed by the implication that Hillary, her campaign and her supporters are trying to woo Sanders' supporters with that sort of attitude.
Then he quotes a handful of tweets in response that are equally as nasty as his post was, and he's surprised by that? I think that sort of tactic is like a push poll. Say something that gets the response you want.
There is nothing here but a guy trying to stir up trouble. In fact, it's been reported that the meeting between Hillary and Bernie was very cordial.
I have supported Hillary from the beginning but I have never called Sanders' supporters names, however I have been called all sorts of names many times. I am just one of millions. I guess it's normal to try to find things that shore up your beliefs, but this sure isn't it.
I hope you will vote for our candidate. There are some who will never vote for her and many who will. It's your decision to make, of course. It is what it is.
Peace!

(19,140 posts)This was not all that close of a primary. Wish people would realize that Hillary and Bernie are about as close policy wise as two candidates can be. They disagree on basically no issues save for the degree to which they support an idea.
Bernie lost and he lost soundly. In Hillary, we're about to get by far the most Liberal President in US history. The fact that people think she's moderate will work to her advantage in getting more progressive laws passed.

(2,574 posts)At some point it becomes very counterproductive to both Hillary's campaign and the Democratic Party to keep insulting
Bernie supporters. Seems a no brainer to me.
Hillary has national majority "unfavorable" among (all) voters. Simply relying on "fear of Trump" to deliver voters is probably not going to work. Hillary needs every Democratic vote and majority of Independents.
Keep in mind that Hillary would probably lose against Kasich or maybe even Paul Ryan, or any of the "silvertongued"
anti choice, voter suppressing, austerity sadists that the Repub establishment reveres.
The work is Hillary's, she needs to start taking definitive stances on economic and environmental issues (eg. be clearly against Citizens United, not just "undisclosed" money in politics, stand vociferously against the TPP etc and their antidemocratic corporate kangeroo courts of ISDS, say no to fracking.) These are not "Bernie demands/concessions " these are views held by a majority of American voters.
I thought Hillary's announcement this week that she would close the hedge fund loophole by executive action was a great step in the right direction to unifying the Democrats and the national voters. This is the energy and clarity that her campaign needs to embrace to 'grow" her support both party and nationwide.
Dore's tweets are funny but also very, very serious.

(2,574 posts)And it's not just the presidential election. This disengagement of progressive Dems and Independents will seriously hurt
down ballot races/turnout in a presidential year where usually Dems get higher turnout.
I already saw this happen in San Diego Mayor's race. After no Democratic debate in Ca and MSM announcing Hillary had won the nomination the night before the primary. our frat boy/ALEC backed mayor won 63% of the vote and will not need to run further in Nov election because he won 50%+ of the primary votes. San Diego is demographically now a majority leaning Dem City. But obviously not enough Dems or Dem leaning Independents showed up because the subliminal message was 'you and your vote don't matter."
