I know it's an ad, but it is this generation's "I'd Like to Buy the World a Coke", and it's good.

I'm not so sure that they aren't spot on with what we need more of, to rejuvenate our spirits...

"Kia says the commercial represents 30 different musical instruments from more than 20 cultures and includes African and Korean drums, a sitar, a ukulele, bagpipes, violins, and more."

... and now I'm so glad I did.

I watched only two minutes ago - and have already forgotten what product this ad is selling.

That may be a scathing critique of the marketing gurus who put this ad together. But it is a glowing review of the creativity - visual and musical - that make this clip memorable.

Sorry, Madison Avenue, you missed the mark. But kudos to those whose talents contributed to selling a good vibe, instead of peddling a truly forgettable product.

My (late) husband and I had a favourite commercial that aired for well over a year. We often referred to it, often quoted it, often remarked on now funny it was.

But neither of us could ever remember what product the ad was selling.

Sometimes the MadMen give us something worth remembering - without ever realizing that what we remember has nothing to do with what they were trying to sell.

I'm a Boomer, and I was talking with my Millennial son earlier this evening, and briefly some stuff came up about the generational differences.

Here's what I want to say: You should of course think your generation is the best. But you also need to appreciate the other generations, because each and every one of them has something to contribute.

Thanks for posting this.

This corporate, for-profit ad accomplished what they had hoped: Pulled on your heart-strings and made you happy about Kia because they played happy music and some fake hamsters played instruments? Buy more! Buy Kia because we play cool music! On cool instruments! With fake hamsters!

If you're for this commercial then quit complaining about Citizens United.

Another thought: If BP played this song with fake hamsters and shiny cars in an effort to promote petroleum use, would you all be so excited about the ad?

Geez, people, are you really democrats?

Plenty of Democrats work in business, advertising, and marketing. Yes, the purpose is to sell things. Being a Democrat isn't about being anti-business. It's about being anti-corruption.

Not sure how advertising and marketing of products has anything to do with Citizens United. Saying that corporations shouldn't be able to buy elections doesn't mean you think corporations shouldn't be able to market their own products.

...they don't repeat the product's name 17 times in 10 seconds! (And since it's a car, there's not 20 minutes of mumbled disclaimer about contra-indications and side effects)

Great commercial. Worth it for the sitar playing "Dueling Banjos" (Duelling stringed instruments?) And the brief nod to the scene from "Hard Day's Night" was neat.

would be electric would be a bonus. On the other hand, I don't even ride in cars from countries that think dogs are food, and I really wouldn't want one parked in my driveway. I'm more of a build-your-own-from-a-used-S10 kinda person. So there is that.

But it costs nothing more than getting on the Internet to enjoy the music, and that whole scene of widely differing people enjoying themselves without a war was pretty cool.
