Could Gary Johnson Be The Ross Perot Of 2016?

Gary Johnson is seeing his poll numbers slowly tick upwards and he’s on the verge of qualifying for the Presidential debates. Could he be the dark horse candidate that throws the two-party system into disarray? Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins discusses this.

But Perot definitely didn't cost Bush the '92 election, as Rethugs like to claim. forest444 Jul 2016 #1
Johnson isn't even on the ballot in some states. Couldn't afford the fees - said so himself. tonyt53 Jul 2016 #2

They like to parrot the bunk about "Poppy Bush losing only thanks to Ross Perot." But polls at the time showed that Perot drew about evenly from both parties, with one third of the Perotista vote staying home had he not run.

Bush would have probably won in Colorado, Georgia, and Montana without Perot. Those 24 combined electoral votes would have only given him 192 however - far short of the 270 needed.

Gary Johnson, then, would be more like a Bull Moose (Teddy Roosevelt, who in 1912 cost Taft the election).
