Related: About this forumCrystal Pepsi - The ad they don't want you to see
Remember when Cindy Crawford, the biggest supermodel in the 90s starred in that steamy Pepsi ad?
Well were bringing that back (kind of).
To crash the launch of Crystal Pepsi (its hitting grocery store shelves in the US right now!), weve created a spoof ad to get under Pepsis skin and force it to only use responsible palm oil.
To pressure Pepsi, we need as many people as possible watching the video. Thats where you come in.
Pepsi buys over 470,000 metric tons of palm oil per year to make products that we buy like Doritos, Cheetos, Quaker Granola Bars, and Lays potato chips.
The reality of what happens on oil palm plantations is very different to Pepsis fun, sexy advertising campaigns.
Pepsis conflict palm oil is driving rainforest destruction and the extinction of already endangered animals like orangutans, tigers, and elephants. Workers in the palm oil industry are paid unethically low wages, and many dont have adequate health and safety protection.
With the launch of Crystal Pepsi today, nows a good time to spread the word about Pepsis practices, by watching the video and sharing the video with your friends, family, and colleagues.
Last year we made a Doritos spoof ad together, and thanks to the SumOfUs community, the video went viral, clocking over 20 million views. This helped bring PepsiCo back to the negotiating table, and forced it to come up with a new palm oil commitment.
But its still not good enough. Pepsis palm oil policy does not cover its producer in Indonesia, IndoFood.
Thats why we have to keep up the pressure. Campaigning by the SumOfUs community has already pushed big companies like McDonalds, Starbucks, and Kelloggs to adopt responsible palm oil policies.
Our eyes are set on Pepsi. We know this tactic works -- but we need your help to make this ad a real showstopper.
Thanks for all that you do,
Carys, Kat, Hanna, and the team at SumOfUs

(5,417 posts)8. Pepsi is a soft drink manufacturer
Is it really suprising they would try to sell more soft drinks?

Why not something for nutrition or famine relief? But no, something by corporate America for profit so they can buy politicians. Something else to make people obese.

It was awful by itself, but mixed well with Code Red.
