"Once you wake up to this. I mean really wake up. The constant sinking feeling in my stomach just aches. Thanks to people like Sean asking these questions. It's up to the individual to seek the truth. Trust nothing in media. It's all a manipulation. Extreme right or extreme left, it's all a mind game. Rise above it and use their weapons against them. We must find common ground and unite our minds to find solutions for ourselves. We must unplug from the idea that government is supposed to have the power and control they currently have. The truth is hidden in plain sight. There's more of us then there is of them and they need us! Without us their corporations will go bankrupt. We have the power, not them. They've very cleverly, like a magician tricked us.............we've..........seen............you..........now........now, the trick is lame."

(46,327 posts)I knew this would be from a different government's official media, and I was right.
Putin's pet "Russia Today," which to date has yet to withdraw that wild story about a "Ukrainian fighter" shooting down MH-17.

(2,412 posts)All I know is from my visit there as a tourist in 2000. We knew it was no human rights paradise but what we saw was a very healthy looking society with benefits for the average person. We saw a strong intact culture with an ancient history that was preserved and revered. We enjoyed the Museum of Arab Science, the National Mosaic Museum, the ruins of Ebla, the Souks of Aleppo and Damascus. We went to a Christian Arab church in Aleppo Christmas Eve. We saw that people were eating well, no beggars on the streets, lots of families running small businesses, and an absence of multinational corporations. We saw families out walking together in large groups, looking comfortable and happy. No longer. US meddling and supporting the so called "moderate" rebels has been a disaster. The Western media is now using that poor little boy's photo to drum up support here for a war we are loosing. Disgusting.

(22,800 posts)Yes, a lot of the western media is too commercialized, but there is also the best investigative reporting in the world. I'd be curious to which media the western media is being compared if it his considered "corrupt." Most of the world media is owned and/or controlled why the ruling party of the country concerned.
Mr_Jefferson_24
(8,559 posts)Western media does nothing but promote official narratives as directed by their corporate keepers, narratives which rarely if ever resemble anything close to the truth. They don't do ANY honest investigative reporting on important events anymore. Certainly not if they want to keep their jobs.
Everything we get from any media source should be carefully scrutinized, and that certainly includes items from RT.

(22,800 posts)I subscribe to the Washington Post. That qualifies as "western media." They have done numerous in depth and long term investigative stories on topics such as police shootings to the complexity and size of the U.S. intelligence system. I never said one shouldn't scrutinize media sources. I said a blanket statement such as "the corrupt western media" is just plain dumb.

(8,559 posts)...Washington Post, now why doesn't that surprise me?
Are you by any chance a big fan of the O'Reilly Factor too?
Any complex system or organization controlled by people who are corrupt and operated in a manner which is corrupt can rightly be called corrupt. Western media absolutely is corrupt. Just because some investigative reporter does a good job investigating a police shooting or corruption at city hall does not change this. That reporter, honorable and decent a person as he/she may be, did this good reporting ONLY because his/her corporate keepers allowed it.
They are permitted to do honest investigative reporting ONLY when it poses no threat to the elites and that most certainly is corrupt.
If you simply must drink the Koolaid because your psyche is just too fragile to face the reality of what our so called print and TV "news" media actually is (a propaganda instrument controlled by the elites), then by all means drink the Koolaid. We wouldn't want you to become distressed.

(22,800 posts)I see you are deeply invested in a paranoid version of reality. I wouldn't want to damage your fragile ego further. Carry on!
Mr_Jefferson_24
(8,559 posts)...to be corrupt constitutes paranoia, then most adults who read on this planet are paranoid.
Much closer to the truth to say you are simply in denial.
I will make an effort to carry on, thank you.
