It's the same as the Michael Moore video that was edited to make it sound like he was Trumphumping.
You shouldn't be having issues with Tweety, here. His full commentary is posted elsewhere in this thread.

(28,277 posts)Kindly do not talk down to me. At any given time, Matthews is dancing on the edge of the chasm between right and left. He makes it way too easy for his words to be used against Democrats---this is a particularly egregious example of the shoddy commentary he offers up on a regular basis. How often does the right wing get to use Rachel Maddow's words against us?
MADem
(135,425 posts)And worse, blaming the VICTIM -- that's the ugliest part of your thesis, frankly.
Skinner's post in this thread explains exactly what happened, his "advocacy" was for Clinton, by explaining exactly to viewers of his show what a Trumphumper would say.
It irritates the hell out of me when someone does the right thing, and still gets gigged for it by someone who purports to be on their same side.
Surprize, Surprize--Chris Matthews is a MODERATE, Tip O'Neill/Jack Kennedy Democrat. He is an OLD MAN who came up in the sixties. He favors that STRONG AND WISE DEFENSE paradigm that used to be a hallmark of the Dem platform, before the right wing chickenhawks took it from us and we didn't immediately push back. He's not going to be everything for and to people to his left.
And the reason that no one tries to paint Rachel as a rightie is because, besides her left of center POV, she is a LESBIAN. Right wingers are unkind (if not vicious and violent) to the LGBTQ community, they don't generally use them as poster boys/girls and they know that the vast majority of them--even the moderate and (hen's teeth) conservative gays--want nothing to do with the likes of Trump.
So that argument is just absurd on its face.
Again--stop blaming the victim of the crime. It's not what we do. I'm not "talking down" to you either--I'm just telling you about your very own comments and you are mad because you know I am right on the mark.

Are these lunatics at MSNBC still wanting a "horse race" or are they trying to completely destroy our country? I can not for the life of me. MSNBC, CNN and FOX have adamantly refused to tell the truth or the whole story, but they give this insane commentary? JESUS!!!!! I can't stand this!

(10,130 posts)CNN, MSNBC used to be much better but they've slipped with the rest of the mainstream news into a bigger focus on entertainment via the news rather than journalism.
I think Joe Scarborough is pretty light upstairs too.
Even Rachel, who I really liked, has gone down a few pegs.
I've canceled my cable. I can't watch cable news any more. I pick up clips and streams here and there but in good conscience, cannot reward these people with a dime of my money (though it started with disgust of FOX news for me ...).
This is the lowest and worst the media has been in my lifetime. It's a dangerous thing as the Trump candidacy proves.
I still keep tabs on mainstream news but I've spread my internet wings to the CBC or BBC or other places for news where some better elements of journalism, social conscience and objectivity still exist.

(2,487 posts)I am sick and tire of us being so naive. This is the 2nd high level figure that has done this and each time they do, the right takes it out of context as if the person giving the "What Trump should say if he were serious" speech is now an ardent supporter. Yes, Chris Matthews, this is what Trump should say. Trump could easily win this election if he focused on things like this. But he doesn't because he is a 70 year old, sociopathic man child who cares more about racism, misogamy, xenophobia and hate than running a campaign. That is exactly what disqualifies him, he focuses on anything but policy. Trump is too busy showing us who he really is so don't go off and create the speech that will win him the election on his behalf so that we can watch it instead of what Trump believes.
This is the link of Chris Matthews giving his segment on "What Trump should say":

(28,277 posts)They ought to have their best commentators---Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell---on early, in prime viewing slots, and shift Tweety down to 10:00 or later. His show has devolved into a daily forum for the trashing of Democrats (and the hawking of Matthews' latest books). History indicates that the powers that be at MSNBC aren't smart enough to do this. And don't even get me started about Joe Scarborough.......

The last thing I want in my government or my economy, is for someone to shake things up. George W. Bush "shook things up" in his term and it nearly ended in another depression.

What next?
Are we going back to calling things "gay" as a pejorative, saying someone "throws like a girl" as an insult?
Way to become an anachronism to try and make a specious point.
I can't tell which is worse - if actually meant it or if he thought it would be OK to portray that as the thought process of a Trump supporter without proper prefacing.
2) Tweety is so busy trying to ingratiate himself with that gas bag Trump fellatiator Hugh Hewitt (the second that MF'er comes on screen I am on to another channel within milliseconds) that he has become a sad, pathetic self-parody.
Someone put this clown out of his misery and off the air before he sinks even lower into the morass.

I've been here from the start, but I had my account on my work computer (those were the days, when you could pull that kind of shit, pre-Nahn Wun Wun) and when I retired and switched internet providers I didn't change the email account or any of my details, so I lost my history here and couldn't retrieve it because I'd completely forgotten my damn password (the dangers of clicking "remember me!" . I had to create a new account, and start over. It didn't make much difference, though, because I rarely posted (and never from work). I think I had 33 posts in all those years, but I read the site voraciously!

(21,056 posts)So, you got to be in the initial couple years! Cool, MADem!
It was great to join, like you said, a Democratic discussion board, where we could feel safe expressing our views. It's funny how you only had 33 posts, and then once you came back, you started posting so much. I remember, thanks to your story, how scared I was to post to start with, LOL... that makes me crack up now...
If my intentions are misunderstood now, I just move on, because I know I'm liberal and don't mean anything by a mis-wording or slightly different viewpoint than someone else. Back then, I was upset if someone well known would correct me! LOL Once I started getting on the front page, years later, I was really flowing. That's why I felt so comfortable being a mod in 2010. Just the best people ever! LOL... most aren't here anymore, but yeah, gosh, it's been so long as you said. Hard to believe we're on our 4th presidential election since startup.

When I retired, I had all the time in the world and was accustomed to a long day so I spent a lot of time yammering! I don't always follow the flow here (a lot of that 'difference' has to do with national security issues), but I know who I vote for, and I've never voted or anyone but a Dem--I know what side my bread's buttered on--hee hee!

(21,056 posts)I can understand how you felt sucked in, and how it was being part of the larger process, therefore thankless! My one military brother almost chose a career as a translator, but went into what he enjoyed, calibration. I'm sure he'd have been exhausted traveling as a translator. And yeah, it'd feel dirty if you voted (R), I told that to my friend who said Kasich's not so bad. I said, and, at the end of the day, he's still got Republican policies which suck and I'd rather have a (D). That's how Portman's winning so big here as well, the smooth talker personality, so moderates say, well, I'd vote Dem but he's not that bad! grrrr

(44,211 posts)OP's clip leaves out a lot of what Matthews said.
Snopes.com, quoted below:
CLAIM: MSNBC host Chris Matthews endorsed Donald Trump during a segment on the show "Hardball."
X FALSE
http://www.snopes.com/chris-matthews-endorses-trump/
The video was taken from a "Hardball" segment that aired on 27 October 2016. Matthews was not endorsing Donald Trump in that segment; instead, he was arguing that Trump was not making an effective case against Hillary Clinton. In fact, Matthews specifically stated toward the end of the clip that he was not saying he wanted Trump to win the presidency rather, he didn't understand why Trump was focusing on petty fights when he could be spending his time talking about substantive issues:
If Trump were to win this election, those would be the reasons that would be written at the top of the newspaper the day afterward. So why doesn't he do it. Why doesn't he say now what will win him the election. Why does he fight and make stupid headlines with his battles with Megyn Kelly and Dana Bash. He seems to devote every day fighting fights that make people forget the reasons why he started running for president. Reasons that continue to carry the shrinking chance that he may win this thing. I say this not because I want Trump to win but because I can't stand politics being practiced so pathetically.
This isn't the first time that Trump supporters have deceptively edited a video to make it appear as if a "liberal" figure had endorsed Donald Trump. In October 2016, a clip from Michael Moore's documentary em>TrumpLand, which the filmmaker has described as a "love letter to Hillary Clinton," was edited to make it seem as if Moore had endorsed Trump.
