Distressing BBC News report on San Pedro Sula, Honduras

Published on Jul 17, 2012 by NewsUpdatesTV

A violent death every 74 minutes has earned Honduras the dubious title of 'murder capital of the world', with the government unable to control powerful cocaine cartels in parts of the country.

The BBC's Stephen Sackur went on patrol with police in the drug-plagued city of San Pedro Sula, dubbed 'the world's most lawless city'.

I don't recall that Honduras was a major cocaine hub and that rampant homicide was a problem. Will we be sending troops to Honduras to quell the "drug problem?" I wouldn't be surprised to hear the political class rise up in righteous indignation and call for US troops to be stationed in country to bring about freedom and democracy and above all, security.
