Remember when Rick Santorum said, "What a snob!" when Obama wanted college educations available to all? Anyone who is poorly educated today seems to prefer it that way. Poorly educated is completely different than "mentally challenged." Many in the Depression generation (my father, who could figure out complicated math that stumped me, and made sure that I went to college was one), never finished high school. Those "dropouts" were nothing like the "poorly educated " today. And times and opportunities were very different. Today there are "poorly educated" who have college degrees. Any exposure to critical thinking has bounced off. As a teacher, beginning in the late Sixties, I taught another generation who thought they could always get a laboring job and make more money than a teacher. That was the start of the contempt for a lot of "unnecessary schooling" by some of the generation whose parents came of age during and after WW II, when industry was booming here. Still, most of their parents were appreciative Democrats. No voter, regardless of their level of education, could have voted for Trump if they'd learned anything about him beyond Apprentice fame and his own self promotion. No critical thinkers could have applied. Those whose financial interests align with Trump's are the exceptions. "Love the poorly educated!' and"only snobs would think everyone deserves higher education?" Who says stuff like that? "Superior" Republicans, of course.
