Actually Caitlyn, 'Liberals' Don't OWN Assault Rifles, And If They Had Their Way...

Caitlyn Jenner caught on tape joking that James Hodgkinson might have killed or wounded a lot more people if 'liberals' weren't lousy shots.

Actually, Caitlyn, 'liberals' don't OWN Soviet assault rifles. Not only do they not own them, but if they had their way James Hodgkinson wouldn't have had one either.

1. 'Liberals' like Diane Feinstein tried to ban assault rifles in 2013, including ones loaded with strip magazines, like the one Hodgkinson used. He fired up to 100 shots, which wouldn't have been possible if not for ordinary citizens being allowed to own semi-automatic rifles that load with strip magazines. Whenever mass shooters have been stopped, they've been stopped when they had to stop firing to reload. Stop them from being able to do that quickly, and fewer people will die. It's not rocket science.

2. Hodgkinson had a history of domestic violence. Liberals have tried to prevent people with a history of domestic violence from buying guns, and conservatives have fought them all the way to the Supreme Court. Heck, WE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW CLARENCE THOMAS COULD TALK until he spoke up to defend the rights of wife-beaters to own guns.

3. Hodgkinson was a left-wing populist, not a liberal. A left-wing populist who was mentally unstable, and had a history of violence...and he never would have been allowed to own lethal firearms if not for the efforts of conservatives dancing on strings held by the gun industry plutocrats.

No, banning ordinary citizens from having these weapons won't stop criminals from having them. But it will make it a lot easier to spot and charge criminals, because they'll be the only ones who DO have them. Furthermore, banning semi-automatic assault rifles would probably cut the number of people killed by these nutcases down by 75%, by forcing them to stop firing and reload more often.

And, Caitlyn, it doesn't matter what you've got between your legs. Once again you've proved that what's between your ears is pure shit.

doesn't mean you don't have weapons.. I am liberal, I own and my wife own weapons, we know how to shoot and target practice regularly, we don't have any assault weapons only because I deem them not as effective as shotguns for defense.

16. You can be a liberal without agreeing with every plank in the liberal governing platform, but

but the liberal governing platform usually has the following planks with regards to gun safety.

1. Law abiding citizens ARE allowed to own weapons for hunting, personal defense etc.,

2. The purpose of owning guns is for self defense (the natural right of self preservation) and recreation...and NOT to give citizens the power to overthrow their own government with violence if they believe it has become tyrannical. Gun nuts often cite Madison's federalist paper on that one, but what Madison said came nowhere near to that. Also, Washington's suppression of the Whiskey Rebellion pretty much proved that the Founders didn't believe this.

3. But that ordinary citizens should NOT be allowed to own extraordinary weapons, such as fully automatic assault rifles, semi-automatic assault rifles that can be easily converted to full auto, and reloaded quickly, machine guns, artillery pieces (cannons, mortars), grenades, grenade launchers, poison gas grenades etc. All of these things may be 'arms,' but liberals generally don't that access to ALL types of arms should be guaranteed under the 2nd Amendment.

4. People with mental illnesses should not be allowed to own guns. (How that principle is applied is sometimes a little contentious.)

5. People with a proven history of violence or domestic abuse shouldn't be able to own them.

6. Convicted felons shouldn't be allowed to own weapons.

7. Some kind of a background check/ licensing requirement/ registry system must be kept in place to make SURE that criminals, nutcases, and people with a history of domestic violence don't have access to guns. (The gun lobby fights this one the hardest, because if you can prevent this one, planks 4,5, and 6 are taken care of.)

Gun fetishers are usually against the last six points, which doesn't make sense to me.


Saying that liberals want to take away ALL guns is a familiar straw man argument for the gun lobby, and it's not a general liberal governing philosophy. (A few liberals might believe it, but most don't.) That straw man works pretty well for the gun lobby because then ordinary citizens have visions of the government taking away their rifles, pistols, and shotguns under the law, while criminals who don't care about the law remain armed to the teeth.

It's a pretty good racket for making lots of money selling firearms. (Pretty good racket for selling lots of coffins, too.)

Step 1: Make it easy for criminals to get guns. (Resist laws on background checks, straw purchasers, etc.)

Step 2: Scare ordinary citizens by pointing out the fact that criminals have lots of guns.

Step 3: Make lots of money selling guns to ordinary citizens.

Step 4: Use some of that money to lobby Congress to loosen gun laws, background checks etc. on gun ownership....and

Step 5: Return to Step 1, and repeat.
