It was only a little nuke (2 kilotons) exploded 3 miles above their heads. It seems they all lived to a ripe old age, and at least one of them may still be alive. Now as to anybody who may have been living downwind...

Were they ordered to stand there and be guinea pigs? Or was it just a macho thing that 5 idiots couldn't resist doing?
I'd be interested to know if they all eventually got cancer of one kind or another.
