Teacher charged with child abuse, assault

1. Grew up in one

…of the most progressive parts of NYC and in fourth grade we had a very respected teacher who physically and verbally abused and bullied certain boys all the time. Years ago, no one questioned this. I'm mad about it to this day. She's retired and long gone.

Had a threatening social studies teacher too a few years later. It was somewhat common. If we'd told anyone, no one would have believed us against a respected, "proper" teacher.

3. "Paid administrative leave".

What they mean to say is, "vacation". How could they be so hard on this poor woman?
