(905 posts)For freeze dried food. What caught my attention was that they GUARANTEED delivery via UPS or whatever service. I sat there thinking that if there was an emergency how could the trucks get through? If I was a truck driver might I not just keep the food for myself? How the hell is this going to work?
See this link for an article and good news. They are now having a 50% - 65% closeout sale.
After watching the youtube I am now back into the rabbit hole of survivalists. Don't get me wrong I like to stock up because I hate shopping in the snow. I like to can vegetables and such too.
I like The 100 (CW network) and we find that most of the survivalists never made it to their stores. Point being, don't worry about your own stores just high tail it and find theirs.

(391 posts)I thought the TV religionists said they and all the "true Xians" would be raptured before the SHTF. Only the heathens would be left to deal with Trump and the antichrist. So why are those people buying buckets?

(7,535 posts)There's nothing wrong at all with having an emergency food supply. This would be good to have during hurricanes or extended power outages. Of course, you need a fire to heat water - or some kind of gas camp stove or grill.
They are right that pizza is kind of stupid since you need an oven to make it.
I've had decent potato soup from a dehydrated mix.
I actually have Morningstar black bean veggie burgers in my freezer right now! (Murdering someone for ketchup, LOL! "End-times OOoooOooooh!"
How do you chill pudding in the apocalypse...OR a power outage?
The most complicated thing you should need to do for emergency food is heat water.
Another Youtuber, EmmyMadeInJapan does really interesting taste tests of army rations and odd foods. She's very brave though!

(24,339 posts)There are survivalist types who have built brick ovens in their yard.
There are websites devoted to building stuff for the apocalypse
They, I guess, would have no problem making pizza
But since a few of the sites explain how to make flour and stuff, they probably wouldn't need that crappy mix

(51,636 posts)and you only have to pay S&H (I never checked out how much that would cost). It was a three week supply and out of curiosity I checked it out...It was FREE! Basically it was made by one of the survivalist companies which was the first red flag and all I needed to know to stay far, far away. But I did want to see what the"food" was and so checked it out. Basically they were dehydrated carbs: mac and cheese, dried stew, rice and whatever, and all of it was super high in calories and salt. I got an emergency backpack from the Red Cross over 20 years ago for earthquake preparedness (I live in CA). It had silver packages of so called food. Out of curiosity again I opened one to taste test it...YUK! YUK! YUK!!!!!
I will eat anything too..like balutes (a popular Filipino snack of 18 day old duck or chicken embryos in their shells). This freeze dried stuff was like a block of yeast only far worse. I would happily eat dirt from the back yard over that junk any day of the week. Dirt would be like caviar compared to that stuff.

(24,339 posts)He trotted out a 20's era car that because all new cars have computer stuff, he would be able to still drive
While the rest of us were walking, he'd be happily driving down the road with his no computer chip car
Problem is, all the pumps are computerized. I don't remember him explaining that small problem

then want them so they can shoot their neighbors during the apocalypse
