once a year, and always brought home little trinkets for us. We lived in northern New York State at the time, so needless to say those trinkets were incredibly exotic to us.

Along with my Dad. My Mom's parents would usually go abroad (the early jetset) without her.

That survived into the 1980s. There were also some very interesting 50-cm tramways.
