1. Is it a systemic failure?

Or is it due to the willful ignorance of those who view the public school system as inherently God-less, and thus not worth their time and effort.

I'd hypothesize that the system is fine. It's the participants in the system that refuse the system's lessons that create this end result of stupidity.

Confuse everybody with misdirection and nonsense. People will not know what to think and wind up voting Repukelican on every ballot. Simple plan. Is it effective? We will see.

8. America drank the education complacency Kool-Aid for far too long.

Meanwhile, the overall need for skilled workers declined as manufacturing plants were sent abroad, automation and overseas outsourcing will gradually consume the rest, and computerization allows us to slowly dumb-down (hello Siri, what's my name?).

To add to our demise, Republican's core belief that the individual is supreme is slowly creating an "every man is an island" mindset where anything associated with "community" is evil - including public education.

Bottom line: It's very hard to divide and conquer a well-educated, secular public that thinks for themselves.
