escalating in recent years. You can blame most of the downhill spiral on one thing, capitalism or what is now unfettered capitalism. A society defined by wealth, ruled by wealth, will collapse on itself much like the stock market does from time to time only no one can bail out a collapsed system.

Until you stop buying their products, nothing is achieved. Supporting small producers, home crafters and tradespeople, independent restaurants are all important first steps. Few are willing to do without things. They're more interested in making life easy.
