The Court that Kavanaugh was a judge on rec'd some complaints regarding his testimony at the hearing. Rather than investigate those complaints, since it would give an appearance of impropriety, the Judge of that court sent them to Roberts, asking him to assign those complaints to another Court. So that's what Roberts did.

I suppose the federal court that rec'd the complaints could have ignored them, and so could Roberts. But that wouldn't look too good, I think.

So they're sending them along to another Court for it to take a look at.

I expect an "all clear" decision will be reached in the future, which will help with Kavanaugh's reputation, which has taken a beating.

The Republicans have made it clear that they don't care if a Justice lies, treats the other branches of government disrespectfully, or has a questionable past. As long as he does what he's sent there to do: Rule in favor of Trump; rule in favor of Republicans.

But I've said it before and I'll say it again, I bet some of the Republican Justices weren't happy to see Kavanaugh coming. He seems like a disruptor with an arrogance and temperament problem. They are a small group that has to get along for decades. The exception would be Clarence Thomas. I bet he's glad to see another one "who was attacked" for sexual behavior, so he's not the only one.

..sham investigation to "restore the stature of the Court" so Roberts will have his legacy.

It's going to work out to be another "exoneration" of Kavenaugh.

Roberts also wants this new alpha-type male to put his tail betwen his legs an not vie with Roberts.

Chief Justice John Roberts is referring ethics complaints against new Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh to federal judges in Colorado and neighboring states.

The complaints deal with statements Kavanaugh made during his confirmation hearings. They were filed originally with Kavanaugh’s old court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

The judiciary’s rules allow members of the public to lodge complaints about federal judges.
Roberts took no action on them while Kavanaugh’s nomination was pending. He received the first three of 15 eventual complaints on Sept. 20, a week before Kavanaugh’s angry denial of a sexual assault allegation by Christine Blasey Ford.

It’s possible the complaints will never be investigated if the lower-court judges determine they have no jurisdiction over a Supreme Court justice under the judiciary’s ethics rules. The judges may be forced to conclude “that intervening events have rendered the allegations moot or make remedial action impossible,” said Arthur Hellman, an ethics professor at the University of Pittsburgh.

Another ethicist, Stephen Gillers of New York University, disagreed that the complaints are moot. Kavanaugh remains a federal judge and the complaints “allege misconduct that occurred while Kavanaugh was on the D.C. Circuit and subject to the Code of Conduct for U.S. Judges. Any violation of the Code does not disappear because he is now on another federal court,” Gillers said in an email.

But Gillers said the complaints “may be found not to be meritorious in the end.”

to keep The Court legitimate, because right now there is serious doubt about whether The Court will ever again appear to be the unbiased institution it is supposed to be.

Kavanaugh's court sent them to Roberts to assign them to another Court, because it thought it wouldn't seem fair on the surface if Kavanaugh's own court investigated, or didn't investigate. So that's what Roberts did, once Kavanaugh was confirmed. Sounds like he was waiting to see if Kavanaugh would be confirmed.

ridicule this as another joke investigation like the last one, calling it out as a face saving exercise by the Roberts Court. Pile the pressure on the weasel. It will also help lay the groundwork for a proper investigation in January.

If nothing is said now, it allows Republicans to say lots of Investigations have been done already.

I'll wake myself up IF/WHEN the Dems capture the house in a month, THEN start doing real investigations into the creepy guy on the Supreme Court.

Those complaints were on Mr Roberts's desk for some time before the confirmation hearings, but he sat on them. He had to pass them on sometime.
