I lived in the South for over twenty years, only temporarily in GA during Lester Maddox days.
There has never been anything from the South but the vindictive peace that Lincoln claimed would prevent the nation's healing. White racist elites there carry on the sickness of their vindictiveness -- normalized as martyrdom -- and have never let it heal
-- From Tennessee's Andrew Johnson's trying to undo everything Lincoln did after his assassination; to Tennessee's KKK, to kicking out the federal troops to nullifying the 14th and 15th Amendments, to the stealth Jim Crow white culture of today --
Georgia is "the state" Maddow is referring to. Georgia is not "neglecting" its election system's vulnerabilties. Kemp wanted Russian targeting help, and he or they wiped the servers of all evidence that would show it.
Kemp is the pathological embodiment of the vindictive racist politics that has made Southern governance toxic since slavery. Even as Southerners try to move on, sick Jim Crowpaths criminally cheat them, election after election.
Don't forget -- Georgia has been Koch country for at least two presidential administrations.
No matter how often Jim Crowpaths get taken to court, the Kochs pay for GA "tools'" legal settlements, then have their tools reinstitute the same Jim Crowpath laws in GA and TX elections.
Voter disenfranchisement is both the Koch model and the capitalist corporate model for minority rule in this country.
This year's "exact match" election might be Georgians' last chance to dismantle their stealth Jim Crow political structure.

(36,128 posts)Most Americans were born into the "personhood" legal reality and didn't know that it was such old and probably settled law. So, my attitude is that we need to stop beating each other up about who's responsible, and get a new anti-corporate legal strategy together before the Kochs beat us and make this country a corporate campus governed by minority rule.
Which it gets closer to every time the popular vote loses the presidency.
