It demonstrated how narrow-minded he can be, as well as uninformed.

Strange that he chose to address this issue today with all the breaking news, but he's apparently been questioned about this and it irked him.

...and he went off about Stan Lee?!

Also, just curious, my husband and I watched the show on our home theater screen, and we both noticed something strange. Any time he brought up Russia in his interview with Coulter, her hands trembled. When I first saw it, I thought maybe it was just a tic, but it happened again. My husband paused the show and asked if I noticed her shaking; I did. The rest of the interview she didn't seem to shake, so we found that interesting that "Russia" seemed to 'disarm' her.

Hmmmmm.

I figured that we just had to get through her interview to get to the more interesting guests. I have no doubt that it happened, though - I'll have to watch again. And pay more attention.

If we had watched it in the den, we likely wouldn't have seen it, but on a giant movie screen, it was much more obvious.

It's actually being repeated right now, but it's past the Coulter interview. I often watch it more than once - I usually have the TV on while I'm on DU, mostly MSNBC, but there's usually not much on during weekends.

I think he understands them quite well.

Comic books are not great literature. Sure there are some clever ones, but the vast majority are infantile, largely sexist, and formulaic. I also agreed with his suggestion that they feed the same need for escapism that video games do, and that video games are an obsession that is often detrimental to the real relationships in men's lives.

I know that assessment really angers comics lovers. You don't need to flame me to prove it.

I don't think he understands the contribution to culture, including the stories, the concepts, and the art. His conflating video games with comics also shows how uneducated he is about the topic.

Disagreeing with your opinion is not flaming you.

I have absolutely no interest in animation, comics, video games, or movies where everything's computerized. But so what. Why people get mad and take things personally when others don't like everything they do, I have no idea.

I think there's room for comics and comic-book thinking in adulthood, but to obsess over one genre at the expense of other forms of escapism and/or art forms diminishes one's capacity to learn and grow.

But, I once made an innocent faux pas with our dearly missed Khephra, referring to comic books as "cartoons". I meant nothing of it, just used poor terminology, but even though he merely corrected me and there was no argument whatsoever, it still remains with me. I could tell, though, that these kind of misunderstandings hurt him.

So, no, I'm not into the genre but I respect those who are.

His show is often discussed here, but I know not everyone here gets HBO and some don't have TV. It's frustrating that they leave out segments, last week it was the John Kasich interview, this week it was Michael McFaul (except for Overtime). But I choose the "official" version since I know it won't disappear.

He's had on Rick Santorum, S.E. Cupp and Amy Holmes, not to mention Geraldo. And he said he didn't care when he lost all those Twitter followers. His previous show was Politically Incorrect, after all. I just think it's too bad he didn't have her on the panel with Dan Savage - that's what I hoped for...
