(2,073 posts)She was in favor of having the hearings and investigations go on and on, like a big albatross hanging around the president's neck all through the election season, to really hurt him at the polls next November. I can see the rationale of Nancy Pelosi and the house Dem leadership - that Donald Trump is threatening the next election, and must be dealt with ASAP. But if the Senate acquits, Trump is going on to the 2020 election as the Republican candidate anyway. Sometimes I feel that the sheer extent of Trump's criminality is so vast in scope, and so deep that we could go on investigating him until doomsday and never get to the bottom of all his crimes. This Lev Parnas angle would undoubtedly uncover another huge hidden chunk of the Ukraine iceberg that would merit investigating at least until the 2020 election. There is a great desire of house Democrats to wrap this up quickly and expeditiously, to get Trump quick on the Ukraine scandal, or at least the clear, damning evidence that we already have, and move on. A key part of the Trump strategy, I feel, has been just to overwhelm the congressional investigators, to just go on committing crimes far faster than the investigators can investigate, until everyone just gets sick of it all and gives up.
