Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes (Original Post)

(4,316 posts)1. When Gervais said all of you actors shouldn't make political statements
because none of you know anything about disadvantage, and you all work for Disney, Amazon and Discovery who pay slave wages to workers, and they all would jump on the phone with ISIS if it had a streaming channel, was true. Even panning on Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep, applies to them too.
When They See Us, was snubbed at the Golden Globes too.

Here we have the finest actor this country has ever produced, and one who has used her fame and influence to push younger talent forward in a tough business. She has the added benefit of being dissed by Donald Trump whom she attacked publicly at an awards show before he was elected and earned his contempt. She tops in my book! Leave her alone.

(4,316 posts)3. They all work for corporations like Amazon
Gervais is an equal opportunity insulter. She may be nice and sweet, she is also probably a multi-millionaire.

(63,926 posts)6. I don't even know who he is, but she is an American art treasure. That she makes money off
of her art is immaterial in my opinion. I just hate to see an American artist of such high value to be treated this way. But I guess she's learned to just laugh off stuff like this. It's people like me who worship her and feel she's being dissed...

He's fearless and very funny. By the way, Afterlife is superb. You'll not look at Gervais in the same way ever again.

I'll check it out.
