I have no idea why they or any of the other EU countries, caved to the Austerity Gang whose only purpose is to protect the corrupt Banksters and squeeze every last penny out of the people to pay their gambling debts. And at the same time, kill all their Social Safety Nets.

I think the best thing Greece can do is to take back its sovereignty and get out from under the IMF and the World Bank and the Brussels crowd.

Now they should go talk to the Government of Iceland and get some advice, start arresting the criminals who got them into this mess, and begin to recover which will never happen so long as the IMF and Brussels are ordering them around.

Suicides are up in Greece, people are desperate, they are worried about people dying of starvation and lack of medical care.

I hope Spain and Ireland and Portugal refuse to go along with these draconian and failed policies also.

Nationalize the banks.

Arrest the fraudsters.

Wreck the banking culture.

Keep social programs going. Try to keep people working.

Slowly edge out of the crisis, a little poorer than during the bubble, but with something holding up the economy besides air and fraud.

I don't know how it happens that nations can suffer from PTSD, but somehow it seems to. Israel is still seeing the Holocause lurking in every alleyway -- and is prepared to bomb Iran back into the Stone Age as a result. And Germany is so terrified of the hyper-inflation of the 1920s that it would rather keep the European periphery in permanent depression than allow its own far more robust economy to undergo some modest inflation, which would make the economies of Greece and Spain more competitive.

Stupid kneejerk humans.
