The Battle of San Jacinto (Spanish: Batalla de San Jacinto), fought on April 21, 1836, in present-day Harris County, Texas, was the decisive battle of the Texas Revolution. ... Sam Houston became a national celebrity, and the Texans' rallying cries from events of the war, "Remember the Alamo!" and "Remember Goliad!" Lulled into overconfidence by his initial easy victories, Santa Anna was taken by surprise at San Jacinto, and his army was annihilated on April 21, 1836. The battle only lasted 18 minutes. The captured Santa Anna, fearing execution, willingly signed an order calling for all Mexican troops to withdraw. Texas became an independent republic.

Texas was part of Mexico. American settlers began to move into Texas. They were welcomed, as long as they didn't bring slaves.

Well, they were Americans and who da hell were them Mexicans to tell Americans they can't have slaves.

So, the Mexicans began kicking the settlers out.

Fix your typo in the title.

Seeing it persisting on the front page unfixed distracts from the import of the serious topic.

Peace be with you.

The contraction for "it is" is spelt "it's."

The possessive form for "it" is spelt "its."

Cheers.
