(4,533 posts)1. New York law prohibits double jeopardy for a federal offense before Oct 16 2019
New York amended its double jeopardy law only in late 2019. Bannons federal indictment pertained to events in 2018. NY law prohibited state prosecution after a federal prosecution. Since Bannons crime predated Oct 16 2019 NY can not now prosecute him. Manafort already won on this same issue. There is no reason to think Bannon will be different.

Bannon was charged but never convicted.

Make them realize the criminals have taken over their self-proclaimed 'Law and Order' party they are so proud of...

I cant imagine that prosecutors in NY arent aware of the issues of double jeopardy and wouldnt be publicly discussing it if they werent pretty sure they could move forward
