McALLEN, TX -- Federal prosecutors say a 47-year-old man provided cocaine to secure votes for school board candidates in South Texas.

The Monitor newspaper reports that an indictment alleges Garcia paid voters by giving them a "dime bag" of cocaine. Others were paid $10 for their votes in the 2012 Donna school board elections.

So how can The Monitor be certain the candidates were Democrats trying to secure votes; they could just as easily have been Republicans. Oh yeah McAllen is on the border so of course a cocaine charge would be levied.

This is local election year, so mayors, city councils and at least a portion of the local school board(s)are on the ballot.* Here in Tarrant County, 1/3 of the Fort Worth ISD school board is on the ballot, plus mayors and city councils.We may know a candidate's party affiliation but it won't be printed on the ballots.
