I first saw the story here at DailyKos before it got any major coverage. It had a personal effect on me. When one realizes that there is a force out there protected by law, the sense of vulnerability is seen as one that hunts us on a whim.

(6,232 posts)...... I TOTALLY agree he needed to be fired. However, the officer approaching from the rear appeared to me to be younger and was taking "orders" from the other officer.
More than once it appeared to me that the younger officer "looked puzzled" and tried to deescalate the situation by reaching in to help the LT. get out of the car. He was told more than once don't reach in don't do that.
The aggressive officer HAS been fired according to the news. The younger one has not. Hopefully, they are reviewing the performance of the younger officer with regards to his rank, experience, and obvious subservience to the other officer.
Maybe he does need to be fired as well but maybe he was following the lead and orders of the ranking officer.

(4,552 posts)The video I saw shows the young cop doing that. A legal gun was removed and returned. That was an illegal search.
No law was broken and they had no authority over that man. Fire them both for their illegal activity.

(6,945 posts)At least it is to those of us who are human beings.
And it was taken pretty personally by Glenn Kischner in his "Justice Matters" podcast.
