(21,670 posts)They've made a few overtures to the (highly popular) Biden administration - but when it comes to voting for or against any Dem-sponsored bills...

Now, as to the part about radicalizing against democracy...that we can take to the bank.

(206,071 posts)But we never had a liar-in-chief before, and that would have previously been unbelievable, too. We've had great and not-so-great presidents, but nothing like this before. And what is the most unbelievable is that we've never had anyone who is this offensive and un-American - and that fellow Americans, let alone elected officials, are accepting and promoting this.

(21,670 posts)Frankly, most Republicans have never been keen on democracy; no one who believes they're more "qualified" to vote than others is - least of all if it's for racist or class reasons.
But egged on as they have by Faux News, hate radio, and (more recently) His Orangeness, many have become all-out fascists.
The very people they tend to elect lately (and enthusiastically so!), are the best proof of that.
Left to their own devices, today's GOP will do everything they can to impose a one-party state - possibly something even worse than that (as some of their own voters will openly tell you).
It doesn't mean they'll succeed (wither the thought!) - but it does mean we should take the threat very seriously.

(206,071 posts)And the fact that they choose to cling to the losing candidate - blatantly the most unqualified and damaging to this country in history - is the scariest of all. You're right, this is the best proof that we're now facing a danger as dire as any since the Civil War - and also fueled by the flames of inequality and hate.
