Stephen Colbert closely follows politics. I remember one night when news broke while he was in the middle of taping his monologue - think it was that TFG was making his first visit to Kim Jong-un - so Colbert abandoned his prepared script and ad libbed the rest. He really follows the news and keeps up with the latest that's going on.
