(4,845 posts)1. I think Canada do away with their pennies and nickles a few years ago.
I remember using them on my first few trips to Canada back in the early 2000s and businesses no longer take or give out pennies, nickles, and even quarters the last few times I visited.

... I thought the copper penny ended decades ago... thinking 1981 was the last year for copper pennies.

The latter coins were the zinc core with copper coating.

It is zinc with a copper coating.
