800 thousand people die on his watch, but the republicans did this, they allowed it to happen. If they get in power again, the Marjorie Taylor Greens of the world will allow more people to die for power.

Donnie didn't want anything to rain on his parade when it came to his re-election that year, so he downplayed it, delayed it and mismanaged it. Maybe if he had done a good enough job - just decent probably would have been all that was needed - he would have been re-elected fair and square - who knows? But probably a more accurate assessment is that he lacked the managerial and executive skills necessary to do an adequate job of handling the initial stages of the pandemic. Or, you might say more generally that if he had put one tenth as much energy, focus and effort into running the country as he did on the stupid election and doing everything he could to rig it, he could have won re-election fair and square.
