U.S. sees rise in pediatric COVID patients as WHO warns of global 'tsunami' of cases - PBS NewsHour
The World Health Organization is warning of a global "tsunami" of COVID cases as the omicron surge builds on the delta wave. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is reporting a significant surge in U.S. pediatric hospital admissions in the last week, particularly in Illinois, Ohio, Florida, New Jersey and New York. 2 more Covid deaths in the hospital on the front page of the local paper again today. One from my county in their 60s and one from the nearby county in their 50s. The first individual was vaccinated, but had comorbidities and the second had just gotten vaccinated, it hadn't yet been that important 2 weeks. 105 Covid deaths in this county - so far. And New York just reinstated the mask mandate 2 weeks ago Monday - after rescinding it back in July.
