... because basically, it's a term of endearment (grand old party). It's a minor point, like Republicans calling the other side the "democrat" party. But it's still irksome. They are the Republican party. If they want to use a cute and fuzzy, warm and cuddly self-promotional name for themselves, fine, but Dems and "independent" media don't need to be using it, especially when referring to the pro-insurrectionists. (Okay, I could see using it sarcastically, but I'm sure that sarcasm would generally get lost. Grand old party indeed!)

but they must think violence against anyone that doesn't see things their way is ok, like a congress trying to certify a legitimate election.
