Fading After Twitter Ban, Trump Eyes Return With Elon Musk's Twitter Buyout - The Beat - MSNBC

The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, may buy Twitter, exciting Republicans who rallied around Musk’s talk of free speech and getting Donald Trump back on the platform. In this special report, MSNBC’s Ari Melber reports on why Musk's business strategy and clever marketing can obscure some of his intentions for the platform, why bringing Twitter private has profound implications for democracy, and Musk’s skill at maneuvering politicians from both parties. Melber reports “his record reveals that many of his past claims about ideology and principle remain negotiable for the bottom line.” Aired on 04/20/2022.

Why don't they devote it to something that could help the world - a effort to cure cancer, eradicating homelessness, working to mitigate the effects of climate change! Instead they build rockets and want to buy social media companies??

unleashing all the misinformation sources on the world. Free speech doesn't mean lying, slanderous and hate speech. What a moron musk is turning out to be.

I don't spend a lot of time on it, I just have an account so I can see tweets from the few people I follow. The second that asshole buys it, I'm deleting my account. I have no interest in hanging out with Nazis.

misinformation by responding to it, "This is wrong MFer," as opposed to trying to hide/ban it (except in those few cases where it is clearly a lie). Sorry.

A lot of times, so-called "misinformation" isn't really misleading, we just don't like it. If you don't like it and think the poster missed something or is misleading, tell others why they are wrong. Don't run to ban, Alert, hide, or whatever the platform calls it.

Don't think we can have a democracy by trying to hide cruddy opinions or ones that we just don't like.

drew an excellent 'toon with Musk pulling a wooden Trojan horse, marked "Twitter" with trumpie squeezed inside.

FYI, in 2019, de Adder was fired after 17 years at his paper, in New Brunswick for a trump cartoon depicting trump playing golf and saying "Do you mind if I play through ?" over the dead body of a man with a child tucked into his t-shirt (remember that photo ?) at the southern border. The man who owned the paper, The Brunswick News, was a trump backer and donor.

Partisan politics stymied another brilliant career. I hope that he's been able to find a new employer which can appreciate his talents.
