(45,454 posts)along with others in the Florida GOP if they wanted to. They probably like nice infrastructure for tourists that's why there is tons of investment for the Orlando airport, rail, roads, etc. to bring people in.

(26,748 posts)There are no "taxpayers in those areas". The population of the Reedy Creek Improvement District is reportedly about 50 people.
Yes, maintenance of the roads would shift to the two counties involved, but they absolutely would be taxing Disney for the service and Disney wants control of those roads (because they want them to be perpetually pristine rather than what ROF recognizes). They absolutely will not save money and likely will get lesser services.
And no... Disney couldn't fund lots of challengers and take over state government.
