Republican hopeful Newt Gingrich excoriated CNN’s John King at Thursday’s South Carolina debate for asking if the former Speaker of the House wanted to respond to the allegations by Gingrich’s ex-wife that he had asked her for an “open marriage.”

5. When Newt was speaker, he couldn't find enough mud to throw at President Clinton

As Speaker of the House, he probably thought he was high and mighty and hot stuff. In reality, he was just another demagogue turning one man's personal foibles into an impeachable offense.

Now that his personal foibles are getting national attention, he hollars foul. The only things Gingrich has been consistent about over the years is (1) being a liar; (2) being a hypocrite; and (3) being a corporate tool.

He never directly addresses the issue -- he instead invokes emotion so as to turn the issue on it's head. He admonishes John King, CNN, and ABC, but never goes as far as to say, "My ex-wife is a liar and she ought to be ashamed of saying this." No, he doesn't take the simple direct route of challenging her because he's employing basic debating tactics. Had he attacked her, challenged her directly, then it would have surely gone back and forth. Now it's between him -- POOR NEWT -- and the ELITE MEDIA!

Good on him for being masterful enough as a debate to turn the issue around, but man... People who stood and clapped in that peanut gallery should be ashamed of themselves for being so fucking stupid and falling for the all too obvious manipulation tactic.
