Lawrence O'Donnell: How Does A Texas Police Chief Go AWOL? - The Last Word - MSNBC

Exactly one week after the mass murder at Robb Elementary School, not a single officer who responded to the shooting in Uvalde, Texas, has been fired despite the delayed response. MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell explains the crisis in governance happening in Texas from Uvalde all the way up to Gov. Greg Abbott. Aired on 05/31/2022.

... probably wise for the police to lawyer up... Texas and Abbott are used to people accepting their usual lines about the police being heroes and the shooter is dead. There could be some big money made - gazillion dollar civil lawsuits. How much is a child worth? A million dollars? A billion... we need to consider inflation.

Those who lost children are not only devastated - but the stages of grief will inevitably turn to anger. The police in this case were clearly negligent - and many of the parents were on the scene, begging the police to go in and some were handcuffed for their trouble. We are a litigious society not to mention that these families have every reason to be angry - and we know that they are mad as hell at Abbott and his excuses. And that could well mean lawsuits...
