I'll be watching.

And a real plus to this one is that he could be send to prison for a long time.

I do know of a case where someone spent 18 months for contempt of court, but that case does not have similarities to Bannon's, so probably a moot point.

What I don't get is why he's been free for the summer to spew his divisive insanity in the meantime...

to be sentenced. This new one, and then the contempt one.

In a criminal case, there is a time from the end of the trial to the sentencing date. The amount of time depends on the state. In most states it's 60 days.

The purpose is to put together the complete proceedings on the case. This is done for the judge and also for the record. In some criminal cases, for example, it might include psychological profiles that give an idea of how likely the offender would be to repeat the crime.

It also helps the judge decide on the sentence. Later on this compilation of information is used when deciding on probation or parole.

It takes a long time to put together. I've seen and read a number of them in my volunteer work as a judicial activist.

What a dumbass.

I just ran across this on another thread—Thursday IS going to be an interesting day:

From Forbes:

A request for a one-year extension on the merger deadline for blank check company Digital World Acquisition Corp and former President Donald Trump's Truth Social platform reportedly couldn’t gather requisite shareholder support. If the special purpose acquisition company doesn’t rectify the situation by the initial Thursday deadline, it will need to liquidate its shares and return the funds raised in its initial public offering.

Gee whiz, can’t imagine why his shareholders don’t want to give a year’s extension. 🙄

Is someone seriously hoping those funds are still there? I hope so for the investors’ sake, but considering the identity of one of the major figures involved, I would not hold my breath.

I thought the same: there isn’t a prayer in hell that the investors will see that money. This might bring in SEC for a new charge?
