and had they gone in with everything they had.
However, long term, they would be defeated even if they had won the war. Ukraine would have bled them dry.
As we saw in Iraq, winning an asymmetrical war is relatively easy. An occupation afterward is not easy.

You're right that thinking the US and NATO weren't going to back Ukraine was the biggest blunder. Without Biden, not sure NATO would have backed Ukraine the way we have. So yes, Biden deserves a huge amount of credit here. If we hadn't been supplying tons of weapons Russia might have won but it would have taken years and still been very unstable.
