The Republican's don't cut the trees, don't mill the lumber, and don't drive the nails; their strength, based on hate and fear, tears down everything that may be useful in their pursuit of power.

ex-President says-believes I agree with the probability(s). I'm more interested in how, aside from the issue of fear surrounding racial demographics, the right-wing forces united under his banner. The waxing and waning of threats to democracy have always been here. Now exposed by ex-president trump those threats have now materialized in the RW militias, the citizens believing the 'Big Lie' and a wanna-be dictator. And the Republican Party is agitating and pushing the boundaries of civility and truth to gain its aim, fascism for us all. Think Senator McCarthy of the so-called Red Scare.

I have during unrushed observation over the 4 years that the 2016-21 POTUS held the reins of our democracy how he reminded me to a certain degree of how Hitler took over his government. And what prompted my suspicion of trump and his loyalty to our democracy was the fact he had a copy of Hitler's Mein Kamph on his nightstand. Now that may mean nothing since many, many non-threatening individuals have the book. Then his rallies. Especially the one in Charlottesville he let pass with the statement it was "both sides doing" explaining the white supremacist riot that ensued and killed Heather Heyer.

His campaign rallies were mini-Nurnberg rallies without pageantry. It just jelled in my mind. The nazis, white supremacists, fascists in our government and business leaders that want fascism are myriad as are their reasons. Some ideological others strictly money. Stating the obvious our country has a real ideological war to wage to minimize these zealots. I'm 74 and probably won't see the victory yet I do know we also have stronger personalities to not let the extreme RW take over our country.
