Related: About this forumThe American Journalists Who Defied Nazi Intimidation - The U.S. and the Holocaust - PBS
It wasnt easy for foreign correspondents to report what was really happening in Nazi Germany in the 1930s. Sources were often too frightened to talk. Reporters were reluctant to quote witnesses by name for fear of betraying them to the secret police called the Gestapo. But the best American journalists did write about what was going on, however much the Nazi government tried to hide it.

I admire the journalists who did report and went into the belly of the beast. They are, in my opinion, heroes.

But you're right, what was really going on was too horrific for many to believe.

Hell, even Jews in that part of the world didn't believe what was being reported because it defied logic, reason, and humanity.

In a civilized world. And, even now, it's still tough to fathom, but we know it did. The words "Never Forget" really hit home like never before.
